Obituary of John Henry Jordan

Longtime Newark, NJ resident, John Henry Jordan, passed away quietly at home on April 2, 2020. John, born on September 5, 1946, in Thomasville, Georgia, was the eldest son of Ruby Lee Rollins and Willie Jordan. He was the oldest brother of his seven siblings, Louis Barnes, Jr. (predeceased), Mary Ann Everson, Michael Freeman Jordan (predeceased), Willie Elbert Nevels, Martin Thomas Nevels, Steven Nevels and Robert Kelvin Draper. John Jordan was also affectionately known as ‘Uncle Sonny’ to his nieces and nephews, Zelda Gayle Everson-Elmore, Dashawn Smith, Shellinda Monique Everson, Alisha Nevels, Marquis Smith (predeceased), Brandi Corinnah Nevels-Jordan, Artesha Dionne Everson, Ashley Nevels, Khari Amir Nevels (predeceased), Ebony Nevels, Shante Nevels, Imani Amore Draper and sixteen great-nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews and one great-great niece. He retired from Chelsea Catering Corporation at Newark Airport as a Foreman and spent his retirement astutely tuned into the Word of God and loyally read his Bible daily. On April 2, 2020, God has called his faithful and loyal servant to join his mother, Ruby Lee Draper, father, Willie Jordan, and two siblings, Louis Barnes, Jr. (Blondie) and Michael Freeman Jordan (Mike) to watch over the rest of family. His chubby-cheek smile and hearty laughter will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. Until the next lifetime, He Will Always Be Loved and Never Forgotten! Funeral arrangements were private under the direction of Compassionate Cremation Services, 639 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
